Andy Thompson competes in the 2010 British Bench Press Championships in Colchester.

The event was hosted at the Hamiltons Gym, Colchester.

With the event live streamed onto the internet for those of use not fortunate to be able to get there.  The photo on the right is a scren grab from that feed - showing Andy during his 3rd lift.

Andy started with a very strong press of 272.5Kg, which was received with a huge cheer from the crowd.  The lift was started with a dramatic loss of video stream to the internet but the audio did return just in time to hear Andy lift.

For his second lift Andy raised the weight to 280Kg and was lifted with the ease demonstrated in his first lift.

His third lift was pushed up to 287.5Kg which would give Andy a new personal best for bench press.  Andy didn't let his fans down and lifted the bar with a strong confidence we have come to expect.

Well done Andy and good luck for your next competition - onward and upward! 

1st Lift: 272.5Kg
2nd Lift: 280Kg
3rd Lift: 287.5Kg
