Andy Thompson

I started powerlifting in 1996, since then I have won numerous titles and records in divisional and British championships.

I train at Gateshead gym 3 times per week under the expert coaching skills of Mick Hunnam. I also do fitness training under the watchful eye of Norman Anderson.

I had a fantastic year in 1999 where I was triple British champion in Junior, Senior and Bench press. I was also 2nd in the European and World Junior Championships.

Since coming back after injuries I have done well finishing 2nd in the British championships in 2002, 6th in European Benchpress in the Czech Republic in August and 10th in the World Benchpress Championships held in Luxembourg.

Qualified for the World Powerlifting Championships 2009 to be held in India.
