At the age of 14 being keen on most sports I began resistance training with a set of chest expanders. In all so far I have been training with weight and other equipment for 49 years.

I started powerlifting in 1965, in 1982 I won the British Masters 1 Championships at 82.5 kgs bodyweight.

In 1990 I was placed 3rd Masters 2 at 90 kgs bodyweight in the European Masters Chamionships held in Hungary.

I am an International Catagory 1 referee for Powerlifting and Weightlifting. I am British Weightlifters Association Senior Coach. I hold three positions on the Executive Committee of the Y.N.E. division of B.W.L.A. namely Membership Registrar, Courses Organiser and Powerlifting Technical Secretary. I am a regular MC and have announced at numerous World, European and British Championship competitions.
